1) Q. What is the purpose of Tri-League Inc.?
A. To provide an organized, recreational and instructional baseball / Softball program for the youth of our community.
2) Q. Is Tri-League Inc. part of little League?
A. No, Tri-League Inc. is not part of the national Little League program. Our league is independent.
3) Q. How is regular season coaches/assistant coaches selected?
A. All coaches are volunteers and complete an application process each year. Tri-League Inc. Conducts a background screening process on all candidates and then makes a selection from the available pool of volunteers.
4) Q. How long is the season?
A. Team practices typically start late May or early June, with the regular season lasting until early August. Some teams play through August.
5) Q. I just registered my son/daughter for the Tri-League Inc. program. What will Tri-League Inc. provide for equipment and what do I need to provide as a parent?
A. Tri-League Inc. will provide helmets, catcher’s gear, bats, team shirts, hats and pants. Players need provide their own baseball glove, cleats, and a positive fun attitude. Many parents do additionally provide their own LL approved bat and helmet however, it’s not required.
6) Q. I know some potential sponsors. How can I get them involved?
A. Tri-League Inc. is always interested in speaking with people or businesses that are willing to help support the program. The contact name and phone number should be given to the Sponsor Chairperson, or to a current member of the Board.
7) Q. Where can I find a list of the current Executive Board?
A. A complete list, with appropriate contact information, can be found on this web site in the Board Members tab
8) Q. What kinds of umpires are used?
A. Tri-League Inc. Utilizes volunteer umpires for the lower League. Umpires are a combination of a youth (14 year olds, or older) and an adult umpire (predominantly a certified umpire). In the upper League the umpires are primarily certified, adult umpires. Umpires at all levels are paid.
9) Q. How can my child get involved in the umpiring program through Tri-League Inc.?
A. Please contact the Tri-League Inc. Head Umpire to receive the necessary forms and dates for training.
10) Q. My child has a medical condition. Will this exclude them from being eligible to participate?
A. No. Medical conditions should be listed on the registration form so that the coach that your child is assigned to is made aware. Should you wish this information to remain confidential, you should inform the coach in private and discuss how best to proceed.
11) Q. My child doesn’t have a mitt/bat. How do I go about purchasing one?
A. Too often, parents purchase baseball equipment based on what the child thinks they need, as opposed to the appropriate size and style. This web site has links to help you (Go to coaches corner) with the proper size and weights of both bats and mitts.
12) Q. What should I do if there is a problem with the coach?
A. You should first speak with the coach and inform them of your concerns. If a resolution doesn’t seem to be attainable, you should contact your League Commissioner. They will help mediate any concern's. Further recommendations, if needed, can then be made to the Tri-League President by the League Commissioner
13) Q. How is protective equipment (helmets, catcher’s gear) evaluated, ensuring child safety?
A. After each season, the Equipment manager goes through all the equipment and evaluates the condition of the items. Reports from coaches are also reviewed and equipment is repaired or replaced as needed. Safety is an important concern and is not taken lightly.
14) Q. Is Tri-League Inc. coed?
A. Yes, while the Tri-League Inc. is comprised of mostly boys, our leagues are open to children of both genders, and all levels of ability.
15) Q. My child wants to be on the same team as his / her best friend. Can we request this?
A. At the youngest age groups (5, 6, 7, and 8 year olds) we try our best to keep kids attending the same school, or living in the same neighborhood, together. In the older age groups it becomes difficult to do this, and these requests are generally NOT accepted.
16) Q. How are teams put together for the regular season?
A. At the end of each season, players are evaluated by their coaches and the league director. Rosters for the following season are then set up by the League Commissioner. to keep the teams as even as possible, making sure all teams have established pitchers and catchers.
17) Q. How are practice field locations and times determined?
A. Practice times and fields are allocated by age group. Practice times are chosen by the coach at the coaches meeting, and usually changes once the regular season starts.
18) Q. What baseball rules govern play at each level?
A. The rules for each league vary, and are listed in our directory, and on our web-site
19) Q. I want to join the Board. How do I learn about the responsibilities and time commitment of various positions?
A. Tri-League Inc. Board positions have defined job descriptions. The best way to become informed is to speak to the league president, or to other members of the Board, as many have held various positions throughout their years of service.
